Western Visayas College of Science and Technology was chosen for the second time by the Department of Education to facilitate the K to 12 Regional Math Training for Grade 9 teachers.

The College provided the participants their trainers, training materials and equipment and facilitated the accommodation and their food.

Dr. Nehema K. Misola, VP for Admin and Finance of WCST and at the same time the Overall Chairman of this activity, cordially welcomed the 692 participants and emphasized that as a service provider, WVCST believes in the importance of this training. She expressed her hopes that the teachers will be able to address the diversified learning styles, strategies, assessments and approaches to make learning Mathematics fun and easy. “Let us all be instruments of learning and carriers of quality education to every Filipino,” she said.

On the other hand, Dr. Corazon P. Brown, Regional Director, DepEd Region 6, mentioned in her speech that although the training is short, the participants will surely learn a lot. She added that she is happy to see faces eager to learn and the attendance in this training shows a picture of commitment. Dr. Brown indicated that every participant is expected to be on time during lectures because every session is essential.

Meanwhile, the Regional Director commended WVCST for accepting the request of the Department of Education to be its service provider despite the small budget allocated for the training. She jokingly said that maybe WVCST has magical powers that they can make ends meet with a small budget.
