The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) facilitated the ceremonial signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with key industry partners on June 6, 2024, at the ISAT U TLE Center.

The event witnessed the formalization of partnerships between ISAT U KWADRA TBI, the Department of Trade and Industry Region VI (DTI VI), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Iloilo (PCCI), and the FYRLAB Accelerator.

Representing DTI VI, Director Rachel N. Nufable underscored the importance of continuing to develop Iloilo as an innovation hub with the collaborative efforts of DOST, NEDA, industry, and academia. “We have this lofty goal of making Region 6 as an innovation hub in the country,” said Director Nufable.

Engr. Fulbert Woo, President of PCCI, assured the organization’s commitment to partnering with ISAT U and the startup community. “We are very supportive of the programs because we could also feel that industries are also needed”, he stated. Martin R. Ortiz, COO of FYRLAB Accelerator, expressed hope that the agreement would lead to the emergence of new startups in the ecosystem, which FYRLAB could accelerate into the mainstream.

ISAT U President, Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, highlighted the university’s role in creating platforms and opportunities to improve the quality of life in local communities. He expressed gratitude for the support of all partners and stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving shared goals.

The event was attended by key officials from ISAT U, including IPMO Director Engr. Naci John Trance, ISAT U KWADRA TBI Manager Reyjand Gellamucho, ESD Director Dr. Adrienne Veloso, PICO Director Dr. Heinz B. Gumaquil, and Dr. Karlo Sira.

Through these partnerships, ISAT U aims to foster a vibrant startup ecosystem, provide resources and support for aspiring entrepreneurs, and contribute to the economic growth and development of Iloilo and the broader region.
