Prof. Jasper L. Pastrano

       Physics Associate Professor Jasper L. Pastrano attended the 5th United Nation Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization – Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (UNESO-APEID) Meeting on Entrepreneurship, Transforming Entrepreneurs for Sustainable Businesses and Job Generation on September 25-29, 2016 at Binus University, Jakarta, and Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung, Indonesia.

          The meeting aimed to enhance entrepreneurship quality education in Asia and Pacific region. Based on UNESCO- APEID data, there are 195 million unemployed in 2015 and the job-seekers are expected to increase by 4.8 million in the next two years. Entrepreneurship is perceived to provide solution to the increasing number of unemployment, under-employment and poverty. The outcomes of the meeting will be used to collaborate with other partners in providing entrepreneurial education with emphasis on its relevance to the needs of the developing countries.

          Prof. Pastrano together with delegates from 25 countries gathered to plan the implementation of UNESCO thrust to integrate entrepreneurship education across every discipline in Asia and Pacific. Aside from giving inputs, he also helped to establish linkages and collaboration with other universities in the region.

          Of more than three hundred applicants, Prof. Pastrano was the only one from Iloilo City among the seven faculty and six students coming  from the Philippines .
